HHU Research Funding Day 2018

On 07 March 2018, the second Research Funding Day for young scientists took place at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. Around 160 young researchers from HHU and other universities in North Rhine-Westphalia attended the event to inform themselves about current funding programmes.

16 different funding organisations and support agencies including the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the national contact points for EU funding and several others outlined their funding portfolio and support services. Funding opportunities for research projects and individual researchers, research stays abroad, the establishment of junior research groups as well as funding opportunities for joint projects were presented. In addition subject-specific lectures were given for researchers from the humanities and researchers in medicine. There were also ample opportunities to get in touch with the representatives of the organisations and experienced scientists from the university during the following discussions and the breaks. In his motivation talk HHU's DFG Liaison Officer, Prof. Stefan Egelhaaf, pointed out the most important aspects to consider when preparing an application.
