The online seminar is aimed at research staff at universities and research institutions and provides an initial overview of fixed-term employment law, in particular the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz).
The seminar will answer the following questions:
How is the 12-year maximum fixed-term limit calculated? In which circumstances is it possible to extend a contract? What about fixed-term contracts for third-party funding? Can the contract be limited in duration at the university under regulations other than the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act? How many contracts are possible? With whom do research staff conclude their employment contracts?
